Solid waste energy generation is approved by CM Parvez Elahi

LAHORE: The project to generate energy from solid trash in Lahore was approved on Thursday by Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi.

The chief minister presided over a meeting where the topic of how to solve the energy crisis was covered. The participants chose to investigate the possibility of producing electricity in Lahore from solid waste.

Carl Fredrik, a representative of the Norwegian company, provided an overview of the project and offered to use 1.250 tonnes of daily solid waste to produce 55 megawatts of electricity. The project will initially get $250 million from the Norwegian business.

The gathering was informed that 5,000 tonnes of trash were collected every day, which could provide a significant amount of electricity.

The Sunder Industrial Estate’s enterprises would use the energy generated from solid waste, according to the chief minister. He promised the Norwegian firm that the government would back the project wholeheartedly.
