Late on Sunday, the entire nation praised Arshad Nadeem for his outstanding performance at the Commonwealth Games, where the athlete won Pakistan’s first-ever gold medal in the javelin throw competition.
This is Pakistan’s second gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. With a record lift of 405 kg, weightlifter Nooh Dastagir Butt earlier won the gold medal for Pakistan at the Commonwealth Games 2022.
Nadeem set a record with a javelin throw of 86.81 meters during the opening round of the competition. The Olympian broke the previous CWG mark with a throw of 90.18 meters on the fifth try, becoming the first Pakistani to hold the record.
Nadeem also outthrew Neeraj Chopra of India’s throws at the World Athletics Championship (88.13m) and the Tokyo Olympics (87.58m, Gold). The entire people of Pakistan, including the president, expressed their admiration for the sportsman on Twitter for his excellent performance at the CWG.
