After a Russian loss, Ukraine requests more weapons from the West

Volodymyr Zelenskiy, president of Ukraine, urged the West to expedite the delivery of weapons systems as his country’s forces work to regain control of a sizable portion of Russia’s former territory in the country’s northeast.

As a result of Moscow abandoning its main stronghold in northeastern Ukraine on Saturday, which was its greatest setback since the beginning of the war, Ukrainian forces have reclaimed dozens of towns, signalling a startling shift in the direction of the conflict.

According to a senior US military official, Russia has largely surrendered terrain in the northeastern region around Kharkiv and has moved many of its forces back across the border.Ukraine claims that billions of dollars’ worth of weapons supplied by Washington and its allies have helped to contain Russian gains.

In a video message late on Monday, Zelenskiy stated that Ukraine and the West needed to “strengthen collaboration to resist Russian terror.”With assistance from the West, Ukrainian soldiers, according to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, have achieved “substantial progress.”

During a press conference in Mexico City, Blinken remarked, “What they have done is extremely carefully laid out, and of course it has benefited from tremendous help from the United States and many other countries.” They have made certain that Ukraine has the tools necessary to carry out this counteroffensive.
