MANGLA: The Mangla Dam hydropower project, according to prime minister Shehbaz Sharif, is a monument to the friendly relations between Pakistan and the United States. The Mangla hydel power station’s Units 5 and 6 had renovations and refurbishments that were funded by the US, and PM Shehbaz officially opened those projects.
The prime minister stressed the importance of further strengthening trade and investment relations between Pakistan and the United States during his remarks at the occasion.
The premier emphasised the importance of exploring local resources and stated that the government was making every effort to produce inexpensive electricity from wind, hydel, and other renewable sources because Pakistan could not afford to produce its own electricity using pricy fuels.
He said that the current administration has developed a plan to produce 10,000 megawatts of electricity using solar energy and that a 1,320MW project was also started at Thar to produce electricity using native coal. The country must be united, the prime minister emphasised, in order to overcome any obstacles.
Mangla Dam is a fantastic symbol of Pakistan-US cooperation, according to remarks made by US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome.
According to the ambassador, Mangla Dam restoration work will increase electricity output to meet the needs of an additional two million people and ensure that the dam’s power stations are operational for a number of years.
