At the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center, Dubai Expo City, and Expo Centre in Sharjah, hundreds of volunteers came to collect donations and prepare thousands of emergency assistance kits and food supplies for Pakistanis devastated by floods.

On Saturday, hundreds of people from the United Arab Emirates, including children, gathered to collect boxes that will be transported to Pakistan as part of the national volunteer campaign “We Stand Together.”By the time the project was finished, volunteers had created 30,000 boxes that included 1.2 tonnes of supplies.

Children who took part in the community event created artwork and wrote encouraging notes that were included to the relief boxes to show support for the nation through a crisis and to inspire optimism. With at least 33 million people homeless, Pakistan’s floods have claimed the lives of close to 1,400 people.

António Guterres, the head of the UN, visited the nation last week and urged “huge financial support” from the international community. At the Expo Center in Sharjah alone, there are close to 500 volunteers. Food supplies including tomato paste, oil, and rice were included in the relief boxes, as well as necessary necessities like soap and sanitary pads.

The effort was coordinated with the Ministries of Community Development and Foreign Affairs and was led by the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, Dubai Cares, and Sharjah Charity Association.
