Egypt defeats Pakistan in the World Junior Squash semifinals

After losing 2-1 to top-seeded Egypt on Saturday, Pakistan’s impressive run at the World Junior Squash Team Championship came to an end.In their quarterfinal match against India on Friday, third-seeded Pakistan dominated, but they struggled against the Egyptians.

Kareem al Torkey’s 11-8, 11-8, 11-5 demolition of Hamza Khan gave Egypt the advantage in the match, but Noor Zaman’s 11-3, 7-11, 11-3, 11-6 victory against Mohamed Nasser allowed Pakistan to draw the match.

It meant that Pakistan’s hopes in the decisive match against Mohamed Zakaria depended on Ashab Irfan, but Ashab fell 6-11, 11-7, 11-13, and 8-11.With Noor crushing Krishna Mishra 14-12, 11-8, 11-4 on Friday, Pakistan easily defeated India 2-0. Hamza then secured a spot in the last four by holding off Arnaav Sareen’s comeback to win 11-6, 12-10, 1-11, 6-11, 11-5.
