Peshawar has a dedicated flood control room

Flood Control Room set up in Peshawar

The municipal government of Peshawar has set up a control room to continuously monitor the flooding situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially in the province capital due to potential floods.All responsible departments are adequately equipped to handle any emergency situation, according to Peshawar’s Deputy Commissioner Shafiullah Khan.

All essential departments, including the Pakistan Army, Rescue 1122, and the irrigation department, would have representatives present in the control room at all times to carry out their assigned tasks.In addition to personnel from the Pakistani Army and irrigation department, Shafi presided over a meeting that was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners Dr. Ehtishamul Haq and Muhammed Imran Khan (relief).

The state of the rivers and streams was discussed at the meeting.According to Shafi, residents who live close to riverbanks are being relocated to safer areas. He said that all necessary staff members’ leaves had been cancelled due to the above-average flood scenario.A hotline has also been established, according to the Deputy Commissioner, to provide rapid assistance to those who are caught by the flood.

The DC Peshawar also visited the flood-prone districts on Saturday in the early hours and gave orders to the pertinent officers to remain vigilant for the relief and rescue effort.Under the direction of the district administration, all pertinent departments are on high alert, the DC continued.
