IDEAS 2022: Karachi defence exhibition traffic management strategy

An alternative traffic plan has been released by the traffic police in Karachi for the three-day International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2022 that is now taking place in the city.The defence expo runs from November 15 (Tuesday) through November 18 at the Expo Centre Karachi (Friday). Since some of the roads will be blocked, the traffic police have devised a diversion plan in an effort to save commuters from disruption.

The Stadium flyover will not be accessible to any of the heavy commercial traffic heading from Shahrah-e-Faisal towards Sir Shah Suleman Road. To go to Rashid Minhas Road and NIPA, these vehicles will travel Karsaz and Drigh Road. The Drigh Road Flyover will be used by passengers leaving the airport to turn into Rashid Minhas Road and NIPA.

The use of Dalmia Road to access the National Stadium from Rashid Minhas Road will not be permitted. These cars can travel to Sohrab Goth, Gulshan Chowrangi, and Shahra-e-Faisal.On University Road, no vehicles would be permitted to travel from NIPA to PPP Chowrangi. These vehicles will drive from Rashid Minhas Road to Shahra-e-Faisal or from NIPA to Gulshan Chowrangi to Sohrab Goth or Safoora.

From PPP Chowrangi to NIPA, heavy and commercial traffic would not be permitted. To get to the Mazar-e-Quaid or Khudadad Flyover and then on to Saddar Dawakhana and Gurumandir, these vehicles will use Shahrah-e-Quaideen.Commercial and heavy-duty trucks from the streets that surround University Road are not permitted to travel toward Stadium Road. From PPP Chowrangi, these cars will be detoured to Shahrah-e-Quaideen.

Additionally, no vehicles would be permitted to travel from Liaquatabad No. 10 to Sir Shah Suleman Road. These cars will be rerouted to Dak Khana, Teen Hatti, and the right side of Karimabad.
