The FIFA World Cup 2022 is currently taking place in Qatar, and the United States Soccer Federation has reported that senior writer Grant Wahl passed away after collapsing while reporting the quarterfinals.
The 48-year-old reportedly passed away during Argentina’s play versus the Netherlands. Wahl, on the other hand, reportedly experienced a heart attack.
The US Soccer Federation released a statement saying, “Grant made soccer his life’s work, and we are saddened that he and his brilliant writing will no longer be with us.”Every member of the US Soccer family is devastated.
Wahl had previously wrote, “My body eventually gave out on me. That’s what you get for three weeks of little sleep, a lot of stress, and a lot of effort. I noticed a new level of pressure and soreness in my upper chest.
Through decades of colourful reporting at Sports Illustrated , the 48-year-old reporter is credited with contributing to the growth of soccer’s popularity in the United States.
