When a grandma is returning from Kartarpur, Indian border security confiscates PKR300,000

A man and his grandmother were returning from Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur when the Border Security Force (BSF) of India seized 300,000 Pakistani rupees from them.The Guru Nanak Dev Mausoleum in Pakistan and the Dera Baba Nanak shrine in India’s Gurdaspur are connected by the visa-free Kartapur Corridor.

On Monday, a mother and her grandson Pawan Kumar entered Gurdwara Darbar Sahib using this hallway.According to the police, the family resided in Gurdaspur, and the woman received the cash from her brother who was visiting from another country and had travelled to the Gurdwara to meet her.

According to the authorities, there were notes worth $1,000 and $5,000. The grandmother and grandson team had previously visited the shrine six months prior, making this their second trip.

In a significant people-to-people initiative, the border separating the two shrines was opened in late 2019.Recently, around 1,10,670 Indians and OCI card holders visited Gurdwara Darbar through the corridor, according to Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan.
