As the fourth monsoon wave began in the province on Saturday, various cities in Sindh, including Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, and Umarkot, had their first showers. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that rain is likely to begin falling later today in the port city of Karachi.
However, several regions of the city reported intermittent rainfall in the early morning hours. According to the Met Office, the city will see light to moderate rain until August 8 and severe rain and thunderstorms from August 10 to August 15.
Rainfall was also reported in Balochistan’s various cities, including Chaman. Beginning today, east Balochistan is under a flood warning from the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). The Met Office predicts that till August 9, Kashmir, Islamabad, and northeastern Punjab would see significant rainfall.
It’s possible that low-lying regions in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala will become inundated. Rivers and nullahs are also likely to flood.
