Today, the nation observes the 9th of Muharram with the proper seriousness and holiness, and there are strict security precautions in place, especially along the routes of processions, to prevent any unpleasant incident.

Muharram is the month of mourning for the seventh-century martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) grandson, his family, and associates in a fight in Karbala.

The main procession in Karachi will start at Nishtar Park at 1 pm and travel down MA Jinnah Road, through Saddar’s Empress Market, through the Tibet Center, and finally, stop at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar.

The traditional route is being followed by the 500-year-old historical procession of No Dhala Tazia in Rohri. The main parade in Lahore will begin in Islampura’s Pando Street and finish there after travelling the predetermined path.

The primary procession in Islamabad will start at Markazi Imambargah Asna Ashri in Sector G-6/2 and end there after travelling along its customary path.
