HARARE: Opening batsmen Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan shone as India defeated Zimbabwe in the first of three one-day internationals by a comfortable margin of 10 wickets on Thursday. At Harare Sports Club, the tourists reached a modest goal of 190 with 19.1 overs remaining thanks to the undefeated efforts of Gill (82) and vice skipper Dhawan (81).
Thanks in large part to a valiant 70-run ninth-wicket stand between Richard Ngarava and Brad Evans, the home team was all out for 189 in 40.3 overs. The youthful Shubman is fun to bat with, and today I feel like a kid too, remarked Dhawan.”Once I was prepared, I pursued the bowlers. I intended to accelerate after rotating the strike.
“My tempo with Gill has become comfortable. It’s enjoyable to watch him bat and time the ball. He has consistently demonstrated the ability to increase 50s.”Our bowlers performed admirably, and it was good to see Deepak Chahar return from injury with three wickets.”Regis Chakabva, the captain of Zimbabwe, stated: “India bowled exceptionally well and put pressure on us. I thought we got off to a good start, but after 18 over, we lost our stride.
