General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff, has asked Pakistan’s national cricket team to uphold tight discipline and work even more to represent the nation with pride on the international stage.
At a dinner organised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which was attended by President Dr. Arif Alvi and other dignitaries from various walks of life, the outgoing COAS conveyed this message to the national squad.
Bajwa said, “You have made the country proud by leaving the multi-billion dollar teams behind by reaching the final,” in reference to Pakistan’s success in the T20 World Cup 2022.Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa continued by saying that he likes to see the opening batters, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, bat together before announcing his intention to leave his position after six years next week.
Yet, I think that there is no greater T20 player than Shadab Khan, who has every trick in his sleeve, required for a successful T20 player, Bajwa remarked while praising all-rounder Shadab Khan.
The COAS also lauded the national bowling team’s efforts in the final game against England, saying it was thrilling to watch the bowlers give it their all while facing a modest target.
