Professor Ahsan Iqbal, the federal minister for planning, development, and special initiatives, thanked the All Pakistan Chinese Enterprises Association (APECA) on Thursday for its donation of Rs15.5 million to the Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund in the wake of the recent flood calamity.

The nation has been severely impacted by climate change. We are among the nations with the lowest carbon footprints, but we are also among the ten most vulnerable to climate change, the minister said.He noted that the recent downpours were exceptional, with Balochistan receiving rainfall of 370% and Sindh receiving more than 400%.

The minister said that China is Pakistan’s go-to ally in all circumstances, standing by its side during emergencies, natural disasters, and economic downturns. Chinese businesses, realising their social obligation, donated $15 million to the Prime Minister’s relief fund, demonstrating the strong relationship between the two nations and their recognition of the pains endured by residents of flood-affected areas.

The minister also ordered the interested parties to put together a team of government doctors to treat the flood victims, noting that the government’s first priority is to provide access to health services for the general public.While assessing the most recent flood situation in the nation, he gave these instructions.
