QUETTA: Over 130 people have already died as a result of the unrelenting rains in Balochistan, and the number is anticipated to grow as rescue efforts go on because the government has vowed to “not desert” the citizens.
The provincial government and the armed forces are conducting rescue operations, but the flash floods have totally engulfed significant areas, making the operations difficult. According to the most recent numbers provided by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Balochistan, 56 of the 136 fatalities were men, 47 were children, and 33 were women.
Additionally, 70 persons were injured. According to the PDMA study, the rains caused damage to 16, bridges, and 640 kilometers of roads, in addition, to completely destroying 3,406 residences and damaging 13,535 houses.
The flash floods have killed over 20,000 livestock, damaged eight dam embankments, and devastated crops on 198,000 acres of land. Storms also affect the United States, and the province is no different, according to Farah Azeem Shah, the government spokesperson for Balochistan, who also noted that “rescue operations take time.”
