ISLAMABAD: Senior Vice President of the PTI Fawad Chaudhry questioned the government on Saturday on whether it had authorized the US to use Pakistani airspace for a drone strike in Afghanistan that resulted in the death of Al Qaeda leader Ayman al Zawahiri.
The ex-information minister stated in a tweet that the real issue is whether Pakistan’s airspace was authorized to be used, not if Pakistani territory was utilized for the drone assault in Afghanistan.
The country’s airspace was not utilized for the drone strike in Kabul, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations Major General Babar Iftikhar.
At his hideout in Kabul, Zawahiri was shot and killed by the US on Sunday when he was standing on a balcony. There was “no question,” according to DG ISPR, that Zawahiri was killed on Pakistani soil.
