ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan’s assistant, PTI senior leader and party chairperson Shahbaz Gill, has admitted to making a comment against the Pakistan Army, which he said was in keeping with the party’s stance.
According to sources, Gill confessed during an interrogation. “I think I did not give the remark in deviation from the party’s policy,” he was quoted in a police release as saying. “I made the statement after much thought.”
According to a spokeswoman for the Islamabad police, Shahbaz Gill was arrested on August 9 for “inciting the public against state institutions.”On August 10, a court in Islamabad gave the PTI leader a two-day physical remand to the federal capital’s police. Islamabad police had requested a 14-day remand.
Gill told reporters before his court appearance that he was not “ashamed” of his words.The municipal magistrate is the complainant in a treason case filed against the PTI leader in Kohsar police station. Following the inquiry, the Kohsar police will present him in court today [Friday].
