Flash flooding in Dera Ghazi Khan, Lasbela, and other districts of Balochistan was caused by the relentless torrential rains that were lashing Sindh on Thursday. Hundreds of people were left homeless, scores of people were hurt, and another 23 people died.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif instructed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to expedite relief and rehabilitation efforts in the flood-affected areas of southern Sindh as a result of the heavy rains that crippled communication systems in most of Sindh, including Thatta, Dadu, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Hyderabad.
According to a provincial breakdown of the rising death toll, up to 14 people died in rain-related accidents in Khairpur and Qambher, six people, including four children, died in various locations throughout DG Khan, and three people died in flash floods in the Lasbela district of Balochistan and surrounding areas.
