ISLAMABAD: Justice Qazi Faez Isa, a senior judge of the Supreme Court (SC), stated that the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), the Messenger of Allah, had described the act of blocking the roads as demonic when making significant statements about the closing of highways during the protests.
In a decision on the constitutional rights that were violated when highways were closed, the Supreme Court made it abundantly apparent that assemblies could not take place there without authorization.
According to the judge, exercising one’s right to free speech cannot infringe upon another person’s fundamental rights, and since highways cannot be used indefinitely for gatherings, protestors who hinder others’ ability to use roads must be held legally responsible.
In addition, Justice Isa said that the state’s first and most important duty is to safeguard each citizen’s fundamental rights, not just to encourage the assembling of demonstrators.
