Azam Swati visits Supreme Court to request relocation of cases to Islamabad

BHC provides new orders to dismiss all charges brought against Azam Swati

ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Senator Azam Swati requested on Thursday that all cases brought against him in Sindh and Balochistan for the contentious tweets he sent about senior military personnel be transferred to Islamabad. He did this in an application to the Supreme Court.

His attorney, Babar Awan, submitted the plea, which added the federal government, the director general of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and the inspector generals of Sindh and Balochistan as parties.

Azam Swati claimed in his plea that he was falsely detained by a federal agency. He stated that he was the subject of other cases throughout the nation. When testifying in trials brought against him across the nation, Swati said, he is at risk for his safety.

As a result, the senator filed an appeal with the Supreme Court, requesting that it order the transfer and consolidation of the cases against him that had been filed in Sindh and Balochistan to Islamabad. The senator also pleaded with the court to halt the “activity of FIR’s” brought against him while his case is being heard.

The petitioner demanded that all of the FIRs be moved to one location or jurisdiction so that he could appropriately defend himself, among other things, and claimed that this Honorable Court had constitutional authority over the issue of larger public significance.
