The Order of Zayed or Order of the Union Medal, the UAE’s highest civil honour, was given to Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa for his major achievements to strengthening bilateral ties between both nations.
At a ceremony in Abu Dhabi, COAS General Bajwa received the honour from UAE President Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan. King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia, President Xi Jinping of China, former US President George Bush, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and other notable GCC and international individuals have all received the rare honour..
The Award was last given to Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman in December 2021.In an earlier meeting between Sheikh Zayed and the army’s top brass, topics of mutual interest, bilateral defence and security cooperation, and the regional security situation were covered.
