Shehroze Kashif is recognised by Guinness World Records as the youngest climber to reach K2, Everest

KARACHI: Shehroze Kashif, a mountaineer from Pakistan, broke the record for the youngest person to ascend K2 and Mount Everest. Shehroze, also known as Broad Boy, is 19 years old and has scaled two of the world’s largest mountains, the 8,849-meter-tall Everest and the 8,611-meter-tall K2.

In 2021, Shehroze was first listed in the Guinness Book of World Records.“Alhumdulilah! I am now listed in the 2023 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records! Tweets from Shehroze. He said, “My accomplishment of being the youngest person in the world to summit Everest and K2 has been recognised. Thank you to my family, followers, and #GWR #TheKarakoramclub.

Shehroze climbed the 11th-tallest peak in the world, Gasherbrum-1, in August of this year, becoming the youngest climber in history to reach the top of 10 peaks higher than 8,000 metres. In less than a month earlier this year, Shehroze summited Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, and Makalu in Nepal before ascending Nanga Parbat.

This year, as they descended Nanga Parbat, he and his partner Fazal Ali became trapped in severe weather and lost touch at one point, but both displayed steely grit by making it through the night on the mountain.Shehroze admitted after being rescued, “As we were descending from the mountain, I did not understand where to proceed because there were no ropes put there.”

“We didn’t think we’d wake up at all, that this was all there was to life.”The following morning, when I awoke, I felt it was a miracle.”Shehroze, however, was unfazed by the experience and returned to the mountains right away to climb G-1 and G-2 over the course of five days.
