A larger IHC bench was assembled to hear cases involving unlawful funding

IHC asks PTI for assurances about maintaining calm during jalsa

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) ruling regarding the case of prohibited funding is being appealed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and an expanded bench of the Islamabad High Court has been convened to hear the case.

Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Babar Sattar will make up a three-person bigger bench that would be presided over by acting IHC Chief Justice Justice Aamer Farooq. After hearing PTI’s plea against the ECP ruling yesterday, the IHC decided to refer the case to a larger bench.

A larger bench will be assembled, and the case will be heard on August 18th, according to Justice Farooq, who was hearing the case (Thursday).The ECP discovered that the PTI had received illegal financing that it had concealed. The party was sent a notice requesting justification for not seizing the funds.
