Under the leadership of Dr. Muhammad Naeem, Project Director of EPI, the gathering was informed about the remarkable healthcare advancements and initiatives undertaken in Sindh. These initiatives encompass a range of improvements, such as providing e-scooters for female vaccinators, introducing professional attire featuring lab coats, caps, and EPI ID cards, renovating and branding EPI centers, and enhancing monitoring and supportive supervision. Dr. Naeem underscored the pivotal role that the distribution of Cold Chain Equipment Maintenance Vehicles will play in addressing cold chain repair issues at health facilities and district levels. These vehicles are fully equipped with the necessary tools for maintenance and repairs.
Health Minister Sindh Dr. Saad Khalid Niaz, presided over the distribution ceremony of the Cold Chain Equipment Maintenance Vehicles, which were procured through the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) country office in collaboration with the Federal Directorate of Immunization. These vehicles, fully equipped with essential tools, will be strategically placed at selected divisional headquarters under the vigilant supervision of the respective District Health Officers. Their presence is anticipated to make a substantial contribution to the timely rectification of cold chain-related issues.
Mr. Fahad Fehmi, EPI Vaccine Manager (EVM) Coordinator for Sindh, provided an in-depth briefing to the dignitaries, elucidating the features, specifications, and necessity of these vehicles within the context of Sindh’s healthcare landscape. He articulated how these vehicles will be employed to ensure the efficient maintenance and repair of the cold chain, ultimately bolstering the immunization efforts throughout the province.
