The notification stated that throughout the winter break, the administrative staff of all teaching departments, institutes, centres, schools, and constituent colleges will continue to be on duty as usual.

The Punjab government announced winter breaks for all of the province’s public and private schools earlier this month.

According to a notice from the School Education Department (SED), all public and private schools in the province will be closed from Saturday, December 24, to Saturday, December 31, for the duration of the winter break. Mon., Jan. 2, will see the reopening of the schools.

In light of the deteriorating smog situation in Lahore, the Lahore High Court (LHC) recently ordered Punjab’s SED Punjab to consider extending winter vacations from one week to two weeks.

Recently, smog-related petitions were heard by Justice Shahid Karim of the LHC. Additionally, he gave the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) instructions to use advertisements to raise awareness of smog.
