Tesla reduces the wait for a Model Y delivery in China to no more than four weeks

SHANGAI: Tesla, a leading manufacturer of electric vehicles, announced on Thursday that it has reduced the wait times for its Model 3 and Model Y deliveries in China as it ramps up production at its Shanghai facility following the upgrading of manufacturing lines.

Model Y sport utility vehicle customers now have to wait four to eight weeks, and those who want other versions of the SUV or a Model 3 sedan must wait 12 to 20 weeks. Tesla previously stated that after placing an order for one of the best-selling models, a customer in China would have to wait eight to 24 weeks.

The company’s Chinese website was the first to report the shorter wait time, and Tesla confirmed it, citing the Shanghai plant’s increased output as one of the causes.According to the automaker, deliveries typically accelerate in the second half of each quarter as it ships more of its Shanghai-built vehicles to Chinese customers.
