Life in Karachi is disrupted by heavy rain

KARACHI: A second round of intense monsoon rain battered the city early on Saturday, flooding roads, drowning cars, and making it difficult for commuters to get to their destinations.

The most recent spell, which started last night and interrupted life throughout the city in a matter of hours, was not immediately associated with any casualties.

The fourth period brought monsoon rains to North Karachi, New Karachi (sector 5D), Orangi Town, Malir, KDA Chowrangi, Hyderi Market, MA Jinnah Road, University Road, Mausamiyat, Shahra-e-Faisal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, and other parts of the metropolis.

The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has postponed the exams scheduled for today due to the present wet weather in the city (August 13).

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts that rain will continue in the port city until August 14. It said that the air’s low pressure above the Arabian Sea had gotten worse. Strong winds will also buffet the metropolis.
