KP Sports Department financial problems became public

Aside from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Textbook Board and the Peshawar Development Authority, financial issues in the KP Sports Department have also been made public.According to the Sports Department’s audit report, the contract for the maintenance and improvement of Jamrud Sports Complex was given out for Rs210.9 million, 18% less than what it would have cost to compete.

Despite being obliged to pay Rs20.23 million, the contractor only put down Rs20.9 million as security and call deposit. The audit report claims that extra funds, including an additional Rs4.344 million for hotel bills, were transferred from the DG Sports account in 2021 and 2022.The investigation also disclosed that during the U-21 games, suspicious payments worth Rs20.94 million were made under the category of accommodation costs and TADA.

For the purpose of ensuring openness, the department is audited at the conclusion of the fiscal year, according to Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, Special Assistant to the Government of KP Information.According to Barrister Saif, inquiries concerning different report sections are forwarded to the relevant departments, and in the final report, all objections are eliminated and the inquiries’ responses are included.
